What does it take?
Several years ago God placed the vision of this ministry on the hearts of several people. With lots of hard work from the board, Executive Director and many friends of the ministry, The Ravines Retreat Center was born. The right facility was found and repurposed, and months of legal and government paper work was completed. Since the 2009 opening till the end of 2017, The Ravines has served 334 couples. We estimate that 75-80 percent of our "grads" are still together and working on their marriages.
Our team (volunteers and staff) is committed to serving our couples. We often tell them, "It's a beautiful place for you to do some very hard work."
It requires about 60 volunteers to keep The Ravines running, from host couples to grocery shoppers to airport drivers. Our host couples are the key to the couples' experience. They serve, pray and are available if the couple wants to engage with them. Winter is an especially difficult time to fill our hosting gaps. It's a very busy time for The Ravines. Maybe just "getting through" another round of holidays convinces couples to do something about their issues. It's also a time when our counselors are more available. Add those two issues to the fact that many of our hosts like to escape the winter weather to go to Florida for a time, and we have our own "perfect storm." If you've ever considered hosting, please contact us to have your questions answered. You will be part of something very special.
"Our experience at The Ravines saved our marriage. We found healing in our relationship and we are continuing to improve." May 2016
