Welcome to our May eNews - in this edition we encourage you to come along to our upcoming Crowdfunding Steps to Success seminar, we have Development Clinics on offer, and we also announce two new events for June - a premiere screening of Fear of Darkness and a Captioning & Audio Description Workshop.

We bring you up-to-date with local award winners and local productions, we 'Expose' local Screenworks member Shraddha Star, and are asking local screenwriters to fill in a survey for us. A PACKED HOUSE


The Byron Bay Community Centre theatre was packed for Screenworks special screening of Charlie's Country followed by the film's maker Rolf de Heer in conversation with Rhoda Roberts. The receptive audience remained in the theatre for 45 minutes after the screening to hear Rolf talk about the film and to join in the conversation on the themes and issues that the film raised...more

Congratulations to Cate McQuillen on winning an Australian Directors Guild Award - Best Direction in a Children's TV Program Award for Get Grubby TV.  You can check out the winners here
FILMING IN THE REGION

Congratulations to Lois Randall and Magpie Pictures on their short film Nan and a Whole Lot of Trouble which is currently filming in the region. The film is written by Sue McPherson, commissioned by ABC TV and funded by Screen Australia's Indigenous department. Filming is taking place around Lismore and Wardell this week - you can track the progress on Magpie pictures facebook.
