Greetings! As we enter into the fifth week of spring semester classes, we find students busy with their first round of exams and starting to prepare for midterms. Many students are making plans for spring break (March 20-24), applying for campus leadership positions for next year, or beginning their job search for life after Georgia Tech. We, too, are in planning mode for spring semester with welcoming our newest Yellow Jackets this spring and summer and saying farewell to our seniors and their families at Commencement on May 6.

We also have started planning for Family Weekend 2017, which will occur on October 27-29. We hope you can join us next fall for a fun weekend of activities, educational workshops, college and school receptions, and more! Please note that Family Weekend 2017 will be held on an away football game weekend.

Our motto in Parent & Family Programs is “when parents and families are informed, students benefit,” so we encourage you to contact Parent & Family Programs at 404-385-1396 or email us at parents@gatech.edu with any questions.

Happy Reading!

Where do you plan to live in the fall?
Make sure your students are aware that they need to sign-up for housing for next year this month. From January 27- March 5, Housing will take reservations for housing for the following academic year. Students should already be aware of the sign-up process, but it is a good idea to check with them as well. This registration process is online. For more information, visit housing.gatech.edu.
Earlier this month, 14 Georgia Tech students were awarded Student Leadership grants from the Parents Fund. Your gifts allowed them to become part of a larger group of 70 students and 30 faculty who took part in Tech’s annual Civil Rights Tour . This year’s group visited sites in Washington, D.C, including the National Museum of African American History & Culture, and the National Mall, among other historic sites. Many had never visited Washington DC before, and referred to this experience as “a once in a lifetime treat”.

In February, $19,750 in Parent Fund grants will underwrite four major cultural and educational events for students, including Art Crawl and the School of Music’s Guthman Competition, as well as GT Night at the Aquarium – just for fun.

We could not do it without your support. Please considering making a gift to the Parents Fund today. Tax deductible gifts can be made online at www.parents.gatech.edu

Your donations, no matter the size, are making a difference. Thank you!
