Nidus staff, Board of Directors and volunteers at the 2014 Community Spirit Awards dinner.
We are excited to announce that Nidus is a recipient of the Scotiabank & United Way Community Spirit Awards! The award was presented at a dinner event on Tuesday, March 11th, held at the Westin Bayshore, in recognition of our program – Supporting Seniors Independence through Personal Planning.
Our United Way program helps seniors, particularly those who are single, visible minority, and limited by mobility or chronic illness, to use personal planning tools to maintain their rights, strengthen their social support network, and give them peace of mind. The key tool is the Representation Agreement, a unique made-in-BC legal document that was developed by citizens and community groups in partnership with government.
In addition to receiving the award, a promotional video was made by CTV, a community sponsor, to highlight our program. Please click below to watch the video.
The Scotiabank & United Way Community Spirit Awards is an opportunity to recognize and honour donors and organizations, unions and individuals that have helped to raise funds for the United Way – in the amount of $27 million.
It is an honour to receive this award and we are very grateful to United Way for supporting our program and for understanding the value of personal planning as people age. Thank you to everyone who has supported us and helped spread the word about Representation Agreements.
