We are hitting the pool these days with our beetle pool float and putting on our ladybug backpack, ready to seek out all our little bug and insect friends this summer! Catch our latest episode on “Insect Friends” where we ponder over the 17-year cicadas and share some of our recent experiences with these beautiful tiny creatures.

Before you think, "yuck!" about insects, we've found the cutest bugs + bug-related curios to share with you. From beetles to ladybugs, these insect friends can be adorable accessories or stylish home decor. A little bug love will open up a gateway to the larger entomological world! Watch now on YouTube

The Insect Lore butterfly kit is a great way for kids to observe the world of butterflies. The process is simple with the live caterpillars arriving in a small cup. Within a month, the caterpillars became beautiful Painted Lady Butterflies! We then released them at our local park.  Watch the YouTube Segment

To celebrate her 4th birthday, Diana’s toddler wanted to have a bug birthday party! Using mylar balloon butterfly wings attached with elastic, they are bouncing around inside the trampoline – pretending to be butterflies in a butterfly cage.

A gorgeous addition to your coffee table is this art book, Pheromone by Christopher Marley. Marley shares what fascinates him about insects, showcasing the sheer beauty of shiny colorful beetles, leaf bugs, stick bugs and more. This book started Diana's toddler's insect obsession.  Watch the YouTube Segment

What’s in Her Bag? Ladybug backpack (1) by Ladybird. The Djeco Princesses (2) are scientists who look and take pictures of their friends the acrylic bugs (3) along with their Rhino and Stag beetle friends (5) under their pocket microscope (4). The Grimms Mini Rainbows (6) are great for quick on-the-go builds of science labs, castles and science lab castles.

We love printables! Our Butterfly Letter printable lets kids be creative! They can cut out their butterfly, color it and write a sweet message to send to a friend! Download the Butterfly Letter PDF Printable
