New Member Spotlight:
Who? Independent writer and radio producer based in Brooklyn, NY. Executive producer of Audio Smut, a documentary-style podcast, and the editorial assistant for Nowhere Magazine, an online, multimedia journal of literary travel musings. Her freelance radio work has been featured on Snap Judgment and PRX's Public Radio Remix.
Joined AIR: June 2012
Why radio? Says Mitra: "I grew up listening to public radio and I have always had a very strong affinity toward it. But as I got older, I realized that there was a very narrow margin of perspectives and voices represented on the radio and in media in general. Since media is incredibly influential in shaping public thought and opinion, I feel an imperative to join in the conversations and make sure there is a diversity of voices."
Beyond radio? "I have perfected the art of making gravy, in the traditional, turkey-and-stuffing way."
Why AIR? Mitra is looking for more freelance opportunities in addition to gaining more experience in public radio and media production. Say howdy to Mitra and welcome her to AIR.
