This line is a riff on something Seth Godin and others have been saying for a while now.

Software is eating the world, and its preferred place to chow down is the big, fat middle. The average. The good enough. The not-bad-but-whatever. Mmmmmm. Tastes like chicken.

Of course, we know this already. But we like to kid ourselves that the world hasn’t really changed. Until it’s too late. Until software is already picking its teeth with our bones. Or something.

It’s an amazing world we live in, however “stepping up” is the new price of admission. No more middle-class autopilot. Those days are gone.
