To paraphrase my favorite cartoonist, Saul Steinberg, avoiding boredom is one of our most important pursuits.
The trouble is, every time you try to avoid boredom, it needs to be on a higher level, otherwise you fall back into the same rut as before. So you have to drill deeper, every time.
Work is good, because it allows you to do exactly that. The best work keeps you both amused and productive. If you’re work lacks either, change something, fast, or else risk having a wasted life. Harsh but true.
I designed this print to be a reminder of all that. It’s something I still struggle with, something I still aspire to be, many years of hard work later.
The fact that I quite like the struggle, is another story. Heh.
