I drew this cartoon for Posterous, the fab photo-sharing site.
Why do people take photographs? Because they're wonderful visual records, obviously. They're a great supplement to memory.
But they're also a wonderful thing to share with other people.
Even if it doesn't end up hanging in the Museum of Modern Art, a good photo is good to get, and equally good to give.
People like sharing themselves. It's a fundamental drive.
Which is why I'm fond of saying, the web is built around Social Objects.
Sharing makes us happy. Not sharing makes us unhappy.
Like I said, a fundamental human drive.
