There’s been a lot of fuss in business lately about Big Data.

With Big Data, suddenly it’s possible to know everything. Hurrah!!!

But as the late, great Frank Zappa will tell you, *knowing everything* might actually be a handicap.

Oftentimes, “not knowing” is what leads to real breakthroughs.

Who woulda thunk?

In this interview, Frank Zappa talks about the entrepreneurial spirit of the "old-time" record company CEO's who took chances on music by letting the market decide, and how that spirit of experimentation and risk-taking was eroded with the advent of the "professional manager" who was more concerned about making mistakes than taking risks. (excerpt from YouTube).

Corporate culture is undergoing a transformation. As organizations evolve and reinvent themselves in response to societal changes, new technologies, and competitive disruption, they’re finding that hierarchical cultures of the past must change as well.

And while the shape and impact of corporate culture is changing in the 21st century, the role it can play as a determinant of success is not waning anytime soon. As the researchers of the MIT SMR/Glassdoor Culture 500 put it, “To survive and thrive in today’s market, a healthy corporate culture is more important than ever.”
