Apologies to those who have asked for not giving the heads up that we were planning to slow down on the emails the last half of August.

Last week we were in Boston for Hubspot's fabulous Inbound13 conference. I'm not saying it was fabulous because they are a client, I am saying that Hubspot is such a good example of a purpose driven, entrepreneurial business.

They really excel at making what could easily be a really boring product (marketing software), an exciting experience and a driven one where everyone who comes in contact with the brand comes away feeling better for the interaction.

You can check out the Hubspot software here. Watch them, there is so much to learn.

The above image came to mind as one of the things you realize after attending a conference with 5,000 other people. We are living in a world of niches. As an entrepreneur this is really interesting as there are opportunities to build serious businesses at the fringes of any market. Niches used to be tiny - not worth thinking about. This is no longer true and it is a trend that continues.

We see this trend affecting industry giants as well. In pharma, for example, the era of blockbuster drugs is coming to a close and it looks like that industry will eventually be driven by niche drugs tailored to people's biology.

The take-away is that it is okay to think small. After all, many giant businesses started out serving small niches. Anyone been to Starbucks recently?
