This cartoon was inspired by my pal, Pam Slim.

Pam is in the business of getting people off their ass, getting people to act bravely. She gets people to “Escape From Cubicle Nation”.

Acting bravely is what this cartoon is all about. There is no bravery without action. Stoic endurance doesn’t cut it.

I meet a lot of people who couldn’t do a job they didn’t love… and survive.

Heh. Very true. I also think a lot of gapingvoid readers are the same.

The trick is, how do you get to do the work you love, as opposed the work you hate? How do you “Escape from Cubicle Hell/Nation/Whatever”? I was born into a world where most people hate their jobs, I didn’t expect I’d be any different… and it utterly terrified me.

Figuring out how to escape this horrible fate (and helping others do the same) turned out to be my life’s work. For Pam, ditto. Not a bad way to spend one’s innings, Eh?
