REMINDER: 'Buddhist Wisdom'
This Sunday at 5:00 p.m. at Elk Haven
Join us for our next “Second Sundays” event June 9 at 5:00 p.m. for Buddhist Wisdom for Non-Buddhists at Elk Haven Wellness Center in Brevard. Our speaker will be Amy Goldweber, Director of Retreats at Heartwood (Buddhist) Refuge in Hendersonville, N.C.
All “Second Sundays” gatherings begin at 5:00 with time for informal socializing, with light snacks and beverages. The program begins at 5:30, with questions, answers & conversation at 6:00, ending at 6:30. All are welcome to attend, regardless of background, and there is no admission fee.
Amy will offer her personal take on the wisdom of the Buddha for those who may not be familiar with this ancient-yet-modern path. Although Buddhism originated six centuries before the birth of Jesus, many in our Western culture are unfamiliar with this insightful and practical approach to life and spirituality. Regardless of your background, you are welcome to listen, learn, and participate. The host for the Second Sundays series is Mary Marinucci, associate at Center for Spiritual Wisdom.
CSW Director Rob Field first met Amy when he called Heartwood Refuge to ask for someone to speak about Buddhism to students in his World Religions class at Brevard College. Without hesitation, Amy replied, “I can do that!” She was extremely well received by the students, and Rob knew Amy would be a great person to make a “Second Sundays” presentation.
There will be no "Second Sundays" gathering in July, but the series will return August 11th with guest speaker Dr. Jim Nourse, who will reflect on his near-death experience in 2017.
As with all our Second Sundays gatherings, there is no charge to attend, and all are welcome. (Please forward this to anyone you know who might be interested in coming.) Donations will be gladly accepted at the door to help defray costs, and donors at the $10 or higher level will be offered a thank-you in the form of a glass of organic Green Heart Juice or a gluten-free, all-natural Reason to Bake cookie. Both are hand crafted in the Elk Haven kitchen.
