Healing the Heart of Democracy
Begins March 30 @ Brevard College

If you are concerned about the state of America's electoral and political well-being, we recommend you check out this series. If you'd like to know what we can do, individually and collectively, to bring healing to our Democracy, we hope you'll come. The series begins Thursday, March 30 at 6:00 p.m. in Brevard College's Dunham Auditorium. Our keynote presenter will be John Fenner, a member of Parker Palmer's staff at Center for Courage and Renewal. John will speak about the five "Habits of the Heart" commended by Palmer in his book, Healing the Heart.

The 8-week series will continue every Thursday in April and May at 6:00 p.m., when smaller groups will meet at the College to reflect upon the themes in Palmer's book, Healing the Heart of Democracy. Faculty members and others in the community will lead the groups, which will consider follow-up actions based on the input of participants. This non-partisan series is free and open to everyone in the community, including students at the College. Brevard College's Office of Spiritual & Religious Life is co-sponsoring this event with Center for Spiritual Wisdom.

Participants are encouraged to read Palmer's book (2014 edition preferred) — which is available at Highland Books in Brevard. Another option is to watch the companion videos, which can be found here. Palmer has made available his 2014 introduction here, free of charge.

Those who would like to know more are welcome to contact Rob Field at Center for Spiritual Wisdom.
