London Party Fears Three gig, with
special guests Warren Cann & Peter Godwin
Party Fears Three are very excited to to announce a special one-off London show to co-incide with the 2012 Ultravox UK tour.
Echoing their last London appearance, which took place at The 100 Club in 2010 (which was, co-incidentally, EVs final 'Official' Voxgate), they are once again tying-in their appearance with Ultravox’s London show. However, instead of an afternoon gig on the day itself, this time they are going for a full length evening show on Friday 28th September (the ‘day off’ immediately after the Hammersmith Apollo show on the 27th.) As before, fans of music from across the genre will be well catered for, but in particular they hope to make this night of special interest to Ultravox fans travelling to London and looking for a place to meet and enjoy a night out in between the band’s London and Guildford concert dates.
As well as being their first full-length headlining London show, PF3 have lined up some very special guests who will join them on the night and help make it a truly unique occasion.
The first special guest is Peter Godwin. Peter will be well known to fans of 80s electronic music as the man behind ‘Images of Heaven’, the seminal new wave track from 1982 and cult favourite, loved by many to this day. Originally lead singer and songwriter with Metro (whose song ‘Criminal World’ was covered by David Bowie on his ‘Let’s Dance’ album), Peter went on to pursue a solo career, releasing three albums and a brace of singles including ‘Baby’s In The Mountains’ and ‘Torch Songs For The Heroine’ (the latter produced by Midge Ure). As a songwriter, he has also written for, amongst others, Steve Winwood and popular German synth band Camouflage. Peter continues to release music to this day, both as part of his latest group Nuevo and in his own right, his most recent single release being ‘Disguise’ in May 2012.
The second special guest surely needs no introduction. Warren Cann is, of course, the legendary drummer of Ultravox, highly respected and much loved by fans for his pivotal role in developing the unique sound of the band, both through his distinctive drumming style and his pioneering work with electronic percussion. Warren has very generously agreed to take time out from the Ultravox UK tour and join the band onstage to help out with a little spot of percussion.
As Steve Adam from the band commented, “We are thrilled that both Peter and Warren have agreed to take time out from their busy schedules to join us at our London gig – it’s a rare privilege and honour for us to have the opportunity to play alongside some of the very same artists that created the influential music that brought us together in the first place.”
Support for the gig comes from Nottingham’s The Distance. A new collaboration between Simon Akers (Lost Controllers) and Jez Shearing (NSJ, Infinity Room). With stated influences including “Pet Shop Boys, New Order, Electronic with a dash of Depeche Mode and a sprinkling of Mantronix”, they create “melodic, catchy electronic pop that will make you smile, dance, cry and just have a jolly old time”.
The venue for the gig is Upstairs at The Garage, 20-22 Highbury Corner, Islington, N5 1RD - a renowned leading London venue with excellent equipment and facilities, and one that is easy for people to travel to.
Date: Friday 28th September 2012
