Crestview Camping--Helpful Directions to the Campsite
Here is an email from Eleanor which you may find helpful to find your way to the campgrounds this weekend:
'I have had a couple of requests for directions to the campsite (Rifleman Phillips group site). Do look at the park map (and other instructions) below to orientate yourself, and here are a couple of driving options from Boulder
1. About 18 miles south on Hwy 93 from Boulder. Turn Right onto Golden GAte CAnyon road (at the north end of Golden). Drive 12.75 winding miles up Golden Gate Canyon Road. Take a right onto Crawford Gulch Road and the Visitors center is right there at the intersection.
Stop to buy your park pass and pick up trail maps. They will give you directions to the campsite. This visitors center is open until 6pm.
This is the route that we have always taken, but expect slower moving traffic on 93 if you leave Boulder after 4pm as everyone is leaving work and trying to get to the mountains.
2. Alternatively, drive up Boulder Canyon to Nederland. Take a Left at the roundabout, driving through the town and stay on Hwy119 heading south toward and through rollinsville. About 5miles after driving through Rollinsville turn left on Gap Road. Rapidly take the 1st right to stay on Gap Road. Drive about 3 miles to get to Golden Gate State Park. Follow signs to 'Reverend's Ridge Campground' and stop at the office there to get park passes and maps. They will give you directions to our campsite (a few miles drive through the park). This office should be open until 9pm.
We will likely take the Boulder Canyon route since I expect lighter traffic at 5pm on a Friday, and also because the Reverends Ridge office is open later in the evening.
Hope to be up there between 6 and 7pm and see you all there!
Remember - no cell phone coverage in the park."

NCAR Weather Experience Summer Camp
We still have eleven openings left in NCAR Advanced Summer camp (for Ages 11-13), run by UCAR SciEd staff, but hosted through CU Science Discovery.
Registration is $205 and it will be conducted at the UCAR Foothills Labs, August 1-5; 9am-12pm.
In this camp, NCAR educators will guide students through research labs to go deeper into the understanding of weather. Use instruments to measure the weather, investigate thunderstorms and tornadoes, and explore how we model the Earth’s system to better forecast weather and climate. This is a serious look into how we conduct research about weather. Located at the Foothills Lab, this week-long experience will involve observing what research scientists really do, visits to research labs and learning about some of the newest science technology.
