Nehemiah 1
We are diving in!  It's time to walk through a book of the Bible together from Sunday to Sunday.  We begin a message series on Ezra and Nehemiah  - this is challenging stuff!  I have been deep into some background study of this time in the history of God's people of Ancient Israel.  We will primarily be focusing on the book of Nehemiah and look to Ezra from time to time to fill in with other insight.  Ezra and Nehemiah are considered to be a unity.  Both were instrumental during the reign of the Persians and Medes (while in exile) in the rebuilding/renewal of Jerusalem and the Temple.  Much more importantly, they were instrumental in bringing the people back to a living and loving relationship with the Lord.  Lots of good stuff here for us to learn and grow in our faith and walk with God.  Let's dive in and journey together through Nehemiah/Ezra.

In preparation for Sunday, read chapter 1 of Nehemiah.  Nehemiah is the cupbearer to the Persian king.  As a Jew, he hears about the despair of the people in Jerusalem and the disrepair of the city/temple.  The ruler of Persia allows Nehemiah and some others to return to Jerusalem and rebuild.  This endeavor is met with significant challenges both internal and external.

As you read Chapter 1, ask these questions: What is Nehemiah's 'burden'?  What is Nehemiah's first reaction to the news of his homeland? (3 fold response)  If you have time to reflect further, what is the general outline of Nehemiah's prayer?  If you bullet point the movements of his prayer its very instructive of a Lament.

Peace out - see you Sunday if not before!

Pastor Mark Installation Service and Brunch
On Sunday, July 17, Mark Quist will be officially installed as pastor of Crestview Church. We will praise God for His mercy and blessings on our Fellowship through His gift to us of the Quist Family.

To make this a proper celebration before the Lord, we will have a feast (brunch) afterwards in the Fellowship Hall.  Please bring a dish to pass--whatever you would like to bring (i.e., egg dish, fruit, cheesecake....). And, of course, if you can't bring a dish then, please be sure to bring yourself!

Sign up for Crestview camping!
OK. Everyone who would like to go camping but has not yet signed up for the splendid camping trip on July 29-31--tomorrow it is officially July--time to send that email to Eleanor!
We have camp sites reserved in beautiful Golden Gate State Park, just 50 minutes drive from Boulder.  If camping isn’t your thing, then plan to come for the day on Saturday. All you will miss is 2 nights of questionable sleep. There will be vaguely organized activities during the day on Saturday, all accessible straight from the campsite (hiking, biking (road and mountain), fishing and of course hanging out at camp). We will have our Crestview service in God’s amazing outdoors around 5pm on Saturday.  Crestview will cover the cost of the campsite, you will be responsible for the park entry fee ($7 per day). Invite your outdoor loving neighbors!
Email Eleanor to reserve your spot. ( ……….first come, first served. (Include number of people, number of vehicles, currently we have tent only sites – let me know if a camper/RV site is needed)

What an awesome party last night! No one kept count of the number of attendees, but Steve grilled:  120 hamburgers, 80 brauts, 40 veggie burgers, and 15 regular hot dogs--and all but a handful were consumed.

Last night, I just kept thinking about Jesus feeding the multitude... and how we @ Crestview never ran out of food last night. I would look over at the food tables, and there was an abundance of meat, salad, watermelon, chips, and cookies. Then a half hour later, after seeing full plates, I would look over and there was still an abundance of all of the foods present... and so on, and so on. I couldn't believe it! Even for the people who showed up at 7:00pm, there was still plenty of food for them. And beyond the food - our community **God's community ** was full of life, laughter, and joy. Children playing safely, people having great conversations and relaxing on the lawn, awesome music buzzing all evening, the bike tune-up station working its magic, Crestviewers keeping the food stations tidy and full, and Steve was perfect on the grill... it was so great. What really impressed me the most is that we TRUSTED in God for this evening. No expectations, no judgments, simply showing God's love by sticking to our mission of:Becoming Christlike, Building His Kingdom, and Glorifying God
