Nehemiah 10-13 Rewind and Wrap Up: Holy to the Lord!
We have come to the end of our series on Nehemiah this holiday weekend.  The message this week Rewind and Wrap up: Holy to the Lord! just about captures it. There are some final interesting issues that Nehemiah addresses.  Chapters 10-13 will be our meal to chew on.  This has been a fantastic series for me to dive into and prepare for each week, yet, I am also looking forward to what is coming:
  • September/OctoberBiblical Worldview 101 - Creation, Fall (into sin), Redemption (in and through Christ), and Consummation (the end of all things... or maybe just the beginning...)  This will parallel our download time after the service on "What does it mean to be Christian?  (And 'reformed'?)"
  • October 16thSeven Ways to Praise - worship through seven Old Testament Hebrew words for worship: Yadah (use of hands), Halal (Hallelujah), Towdah (to raise/extend hands in surrender), Barach (to bless, kneel, bow down), Zamar (use of instruments), Tehillah (sing with voices), Shabach (to shout)
  • October/NovemberBook of Ruth This will parallel our discussions in download on How to Read the Bible for All It's Worth - we are diving into some hermeneutics... (may need to google that term)
  • December: Advent Series: A Bloodline of Grace (Women of the Geneology of Matthew)  This will be the beginning of a year long series through the book of Matthew.  Buckle up - it promises to be an exciting ride.
A couple of random thoughts:
  • Have I told you yet that I love being your pastor and the pastor of Crestview church and its community?
  • Do you know that our own Skunk Creek (surrounding the church) has some hefty sized crayfish in it - as well as a buried bicycle?
  • It's football season again - let's make sure we give more glory to God in our 'worship life' than we do to the Broncos or Steelers.
  • Have I told you yet that I love being your pastor and the pastor of Crestview church and its community?  I am so blessed.
  • I've been cleared by the MD, "Mark, you can return to life that is normal to you... you just may not hit your head."  Guess my cage fighting career is now officially over.
See you Sunday!  And have a safe and blessed Labor Day.  I guess that means you celebrate your work life without working for a day.
Peace -
Pastor Mark

Interested in joining the Community / Bridge team?
The Community / Bridge team is one of the four ministry teams being formed under the Healthy Church initiative.  This team is responsible for social activities of the church, such as our BBQs, Bridge events, etc.  This team is also responsible for Service projects, such as BOHO.  For Crestview to be healthy, we need to nourish our existing members while always reaching out towards others, offering God's grace and love.  If interested, please contact Muffie VanAndel, (303) 444-7036 or

Tangled on Tanglewood: Knit and crochet group.
The purpose of this group is to create community around something we enjoy while  learning to authentically live out our faith.  If this sounds good to you but don't know how to knit or crochet, that's okay.  I love to teach and have taught knitting and crochet for BVSD LifeLong Learning.  Anyone over 14 welcome.  For more info please text Eileen at 720 244-6024 or email me at
Community Garden Plans at Crestview
Over the last few months a garden committee, (Mark, Deone, Jess, Eleanor and Eileen) have been looking into the possibility of a community garden on Crestview's large plot of land. We are still in the planning stages and would welcome feedback, comments and anyone interested in becoming more involved - either in the planning process, or tending a plot next year.

Please keep this project in your prayers - that we can build not just garden plots, but lasting relationships and community as well. And that there may be many opportunities to extend God's love and grace to our corner of Boulder.

One Hour of Your Time
The Tuesday, Aug. 30 work-hour in the Sanctuary had to be moved to this coming Tuesday, Sept. 6, 10-11am.  If you are able to come by and lend a hand to take down the decorations that would be wonderful!
Then on Saturday, Sept. 10, 9-10am, new decorations will need to be put up--just in time for Fall Kickoff Sunday!  If you are able to help for just the one hour on either or both of these days, please let Syd know at  Many thanks!

Dessert Night at the Quists
The Quists would like to have you over for dessert to get to know you better and hang out at the Madison House.  The next available date is Thursday, September 8th at 7:00pm.  Please email Mark or Deone, or call: Mark: 616-566-8201, Deone: 616-566-4595 to let us know you are coming!

Jess & Danny to do Light the Night Walk
(CORRECTION: Contrary to what was printed in last Sunday's bulletin, Light the Night Walk did not take place last Monday--so you still have time to signup to sponsor Danny and Jess.)
Our very own Danny Painter and Jessica Jenks are participating in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's
Light the Night Walk in Denver on September 29, 2016.  The walk is to raise money for blood cancer patient treatments.  One of their really good friends, Zoe, had leukemia and is in remission but still needs to take a pill every day for the rest of her life.  (Zoe also works for the local Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in Denver.)  If you are interested in sponsoring Jess and/or Dan for this very good cause that would be “awesome.”  Just click on their fund raising pages below:
If anyone is interested in participating in the event, please contact Danny at and he will send you more information.
