Crestview Newsletter 8/18/2016

There is no message from Mark this week. He was in an accident this afternoon and is in the hospital with a concussion.  His family is with him and it looks like he will make a good recovery.  Sydney, Marty and I were at the hospital and Mark was moving around, talking and in good spirits but confused. The CT scan came out clear.  Please keep him and the family in pray.  Ask for a swift and complete recovery and peace and comfort for all the family and praise God that Mark is still with us.  We came very close to losing our pastor today.

Thank you,
Debbie
Communion Sunday
The sacrament of Holy Communion will be celebrated this coming Sunday, August, 21.  Please take time to prepare yourself to receive this gracious gift from the Lord.

Due to Mark's accident, he will not be able to give the sermon on Sunday, but everything will be taken care of by Sydney and the Council.  We will gather as God's people and praise Him for His kindness to us all.

Special Download*
Also this Sunday, Hillary and Steven Krieger, our missionaries in the UK, will join us for worship.  After the service, there will be a special Download where Steven and Hillary will discuss their ministry to bring the gospel to students at the University of Birmingham. Please plan on staying after the service.

*Download is a time set aside after the worship service to discuss and "unpack" the sermon.  Regular Download sessions will resume in September.
Creek Cleanup Saturday
We will still meet on Saturday, 8:30 - 11:30am to clean things up in the back area along the creek.  Ruth and Peter are bringing trucks so if we have a good turn out we should be able to make short work of it. Even if you come for an hour that will be great.
Thanks everyone, Debbie

Neighborhood BBQ + Kids Field Day
This coming Wednesday, August 24 from 6:00-8:00PM, we will host our last summer neighborhood barbecue PLUS a special kids field day! Hamburgers, hot dogs, veggie-burgers, buns, condiments and lemonade provided. If possible, please bring a larger dish to share since we are expecting extra neighbors to join. The kids field day will include: fun activities, relay games, gold, silver, and bronze "medals", and water balloons -- don't forget a towel!  AND, of course, volunteers are needed.   If interested in helping run a relay or set up, let me know!  Come join in and be sure to invite your neighbors!
Thanks, Jackie children@crestviewchurch.org

Dinner for Eight
This is a great opportunity to develop deeper relationships with your fellow Christ-followers at Crestview.. You'll be able to choose either meeting with Adults Only, Whole Families, or Either of the Above.  Groups of ~8 adults OR ~3 Whole Families meet for dinner once-a-month for 4 months.  Hosting of the dinner rotates among the group, and everyone brings food.  It’s also an opportunity to invite 1-2 friends you may have been wanting to invite to Crestview, and here's your chance to introduce them to others from your church in a fun setting.  Sign-up is available until August 28.  Groups meet September - December, 2016.  Find the sign-up sheet at the hutch in the Fellowship Hall or you can contact Muffie VanAndel (303) 444-7036 or margaret.vanandel@gmail.com.

One Hour of Your Time
On Tuesday, Aug. 30, 10-11am, the sanctuary decorations will be taken down.
On Saturday, Sept. 10, 9-10am, new decorations will be put up--just in time for Fall Kickoff Sunday!  If you are able to help for just the one hour on either or both of these days, please let Syd know, worship@Crestviewchurch.org  Many thanks!

Dessert Night at the Quists
The Quists would like to have you over for dessert to get to know you better and hang out at the Madison House.  The next available date is Thursday, September 8th at 7:00pm.  Please email Mark mquist4neighboring@gmail.com or Deone dquist3@gmail.com, or call: Mark: 616-566-8201, Deone: 616-566-4595 to let us know you are coming!

Jess & Danny to do Light the Night Walk
Our very own Danny Painter and Jessica Jenks are participating in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light the Night Walk in Denver on September 29, 2016.  The walk is to raise money for blood cancer patient treatments.  One of their really good friends, Zoe, had leukemia and is in remission but still needs to take a pill every day for the rest of her life.  (Zoe also works for the local Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in Denver.)  If you are interested in sponsoring Jess and/or Dan for this very good cause that would be “awesome.”  Just click on their fund raising pages below:

If anyone is interested in participating in the event, please contact Danny at dannydotcom@gmail.com and he will send you more information.
