From Selfishness to Service
It was a little after 2:00 p.m. on May 19th, and we were hiking down a trail near the small town of Malacatos. It was a warm, sunny afternoon… a perfect day for a hike, but the activity we were anticipating was much more exciting than a hike. The trail led us to the edge of a stream, where about 25 people had already gathered. A few minutes later, our pastor greeted the small crowd and we sang a few worship songs. We could feel the excitement and anticipation as the pastor reminded us why we were there... we were there to witness baptisms.
The testimony of one man impacted us greatly. E. F. shared how he had lived for himself for 43 years. He gave examples of how his lifestyle had revolved around his own selfish interests. He finished by saying that, from this point forward, his desire was to live for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
It thrilled our hearts to see E. F.’s wife, A. S., follow the Lord in baptism that afternoon as well. Terri was thankful for the opportunity to spend a significant amount of time with A. S. the next day, encouraging her in her new walk with the Lord.
Please pray for this couple as they grow in the grace and knowledge our Lord Jesus Christ and for some health concerns that A. S. has. Also, pray that many more people here in Loja will discover the joy of a relationship with Jesus Christ and living for Him. Thank you!
