Watching God Make Things Grow
It was Monday, June 25, and Terri was sitting in our dining room with Wilma, a lady she had just met the day before. Terri was amazed at how much she had in common with Wilma. Among other things, the two ladies discovered they have a common interest in a vegetarian lifestyle and naturopathic medicine. Wilma quoted the words of Hippocrates: “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” Terri took advantage of the opportunity to make a correlation between physical nutrition and spiritual nutrition, which served as a bridge to share the gospel. Wilma expressed her desire to know more about God and spiritual things. Terri spent four hours with Wilma on Monday and looks forward to getting to know her better and encouraging her in her spiritual journey.
In our last email update we asked for prayer as we work through the myriad of details involved in getting settled here in Loja. We have been frustrated by the delay in finding a house to rent then waiting for the owners to finish remodeling. However, this delay facilitated our meeting Wilma. We have been staying at the SIM guest house temporarily (see photo) and were the only ones here to answer the door when she came by looking for someone to talk to. She came here, because she had attended English classes offered in this building by some of our SIM colleagues. What a blessing to water seeds planted by our coworkers. This experience reminded us of 1 Corinthians 3:7 –“So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.”
Terri’s conversation with Wilma revealed she has some deep needs and is searching for answers. Please pray that God will reveal Himself to her as the only one who can fill the void in her life and for wisdom from above for Terri as she meets with Wilma twice a week to study the Bible. We look forward to seeing how God will bring spiritual fruit from the seeds that have been planted in Wilma’s life. Thank you for partnering with us in prayer!
Rejoicing in the God who makes things grow,
Jeff & Terri
