Sunshine Coast businesses are being encouraged to promote themselves in a campaign leading up to one of the biggest retail days of the year, Black Friday.

November 25 presents a huge opportunity for local businesses to provide value to customers and keep consumer spend within the region. See what Kim McCosker had to say on the latest campaign.

Businesses can engage in the campaign by posting a video onto social media and have a chance to win a marketing pack valued at $5000.

Retail Express

Retail Express (Maropost) is an example of a Sunshine Coast business that has invested in their talent and service to compete internationally, adding to the calibre of the local tech industry.

Retail Express became one of the first in Australia to pioneer cloud retail operating software that allows businesses to manage their point of sales, inventory, logistics and more. Retail Express now employ over 350 staff globally and are in the process of setting up a new Australian headquarters in the Maroochydore CBD where they plan to significantly expand the team.

The business has developed a staff culture of mutual respect that has been built on flexibility, career progression and good times. An example is giving staff the ability to anonymously submit feedback and ideas to the senior leadership team. One recent suggestion was ‘Bring your Dog to work Day’ which allows staff to bring their dogs into the office on a rotating roster. Staff also have the opportunity to upskill and become further qualified through extra study.

In a world first the campaign ad was filmed using solar power in nine locations across the Sunshine Coast, with a portable 5kw solar generator attached to the film crew’s production vehicle powering everything from their cameras to laptops, battery chargers and even hair dryers.

The Sunshine Moments campaign launched last week, encouraging holiday-makers to visit the Sunshine Coast to find their own ‘Sunshine Moment’ that will leave them beaming from the inside out.
