Bonza achieves its licence to fly
Congratulations Bonza on officially receiving their operator’s license! A local company backing Sunshine Coast businesses like Your Mates Brewing Co.and bringing more people to our beautiful region.
The airline is now finalising its preparations to go on sale with its first wave of flights out of the the Sunshine Coast to 16 destinations including Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Toowoomba Wellcamp, Mildura, Avalon, Melbourne, Whitsunday coast, Gladstone, Bundaberg, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Tamworth, Newcastle, Albury.
Council's next Major Grants round will open on February 1 so now is a good time to start thinking of a project that you might like funding for. Major Grants support not-for-profit organisations to deliver one-off projects, events and activities with broad community benefit.
Economic Development is one of six grant categories where not-for-profit organisations can request up to $15,000 for one-off projects, events and activities that address one or more of the below priorities:
Foster strong economic leadership and collaboration by government, business and industry.
Encourage best practice in securing investment in the region’s infrastructure prioritise.
Facilitate development of the region’s High Value Industries including promotion of innovation, research and digital participation.
Business projects focussed specifically on developing local to global connections and investment in talent and skills in the region’s High Value Industries.

Congratulations to Ella Woodborne, our region’s passionate and accomplished 19-year-old environmental advocate, on her selection for the UNESCO Our Humanature Pathways panel.
The panel will discuss humanity’s role in establishing and maintaining a healthy relationship with nature, and will help shape the decisions of international bodies, governments and the business world.
Bella’s input will help demonstrate to the world the strengths of our region as we work towards being Australia’s most sustainable region.

Experiencing first-hand an activity or having a connection with a local business can assist with organic advertising and word of mouth.
The Caloundra Information Centre is always looking for ways to integrate with businesses to better assist visitors and locals, and in turn assist with the economic development of our region. They can showcase your offers and flyers and are always up for a chat if you want to pop in.
Registrations are open for the Business Sustainability Workshop series to help businesses understand how they can cut costs and reduce their environmental footprint by developing a Sustainability Action Plan.
Around 300 students and teachers are expected to attend this year’s Big Day In IT careers conference on Thursday March 2 at Venue 114.

The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations has released a Jobs and Skills Australia discussion paper. The paper is an opportunity for interested parties to provide their views to the Australian Government about the ongoing arrangements of JSA, ahead of permanent arrangements being finalised.
