Welcome to this month’s newsletter giving details of what the BID team have been doing and the next things planned.
Thank you for paying for BID levy
We've now successfully collected 96% of the BID levy, so a big thank you to all of you who have paid.

We're still reminding non payers through the usual channels, and we'll take further action on this as and when needed. Any business that is genuinely experiencing difficulties in paying should contact us as soon as possible so that we can talk about ways we can help.
It's an Ilkley Christmas!

We're well into the festive season now, and we've been helping Ilkley retailers and hospitality businesses with the It's an Ilkley Christmas brochure: a gift guide from the shops and businesses in Ilkley.

We designed and printed 7,500 of this colourful twelve page Ilkley Christmas gift guide and have distributed 6,000 via the Ilkley Gazette and the Wharfedale Observer, with the remainder being distributed throughout the town centre.

The guide also features the Yuel Fuel! section on the back page, which lists all of the BID bars, cafes or restaurants to choose from after a busy day's Christmas shopping.

The items on the It's an Ilkley Christmas gift guide have also been promoted by the Ilkley BID social media team for even more coverage.

Looking ahead to Christmas 2020

We'll be starting to plan Christmas 2020 from June 2020 onwards. Amongst other projects, we're looking to extend the Ilkley Christmas lights, and possibly doing a Christmas window competition. If you'd like to be involved, please get in touch and let us know. Look out for an email in January asking for your suggestions for next Christmas.
Ilkley Elf Trail

The BID has been running the Ilkley Elf Trail to help businesses get more footfall over the Christmas period. There are a total of 50 cheeky Elves nestled amongst the wares in 50 Ilkley shop windows. Visitors are encouraged to complete the trail and be entered into a prize draw to win a beautiful heart pendant and chain kindly donated by Nicholsons Jewellers (see top left pic above). Additional prizes of £20 vouchers have been donated by Ilkley BID.

Nick's sessions are always hugely popular so please book early to avoid disappointment!

The Parking Survey Results

We've had 1,500 responses to the Ilkley Parking Survey carried out by the BID. The survey results have now been submitted to the council, who are going to undertake a similar survey as part of their next consultation so please look out for an invitation to complete this.

Much of what the council will ask repeats what we have already asked but they have process to follow so it is important that as many businesses respond as possible. This is so that we can try to push for the continuation of Special Permits for workers and an extension of the time allowed in short-stay areas (amongst other requests). Further information will follow when the survey is available.

We're still looking for businesses to provide evidence to say whether you've been impacted by the parking changes, in a good or bad way. Please come forward with your evidence, whether it be footfall, takings or another measure, so that we can include it in the report. Confidentiality will be assured.
Ilkley Watch

The Ilkley Watch scheme is open to Ilkley BID member businesses who have concerns about retail crime, anti-social behaviour, or to businesses who have a lone worker who would like to comfort of a radio to call out for help to neighbouring businesses.

Ilkley BID are funding an initial 12 radios for the use of Ilkley BID businesses. The equipment is provided on loan, and we ask for a £100 joining fee which covers 12 months license and running costs for this new high tech radio equipment.

Please get in touch by emailing if you would like to be involved.
Ilkley Green Evening

Tuesday 21st January, 5:45pm, Town Hall Meeting Room

Ilkley businesses. Follow the link here to register which will help us with planning for the evening

There are plenty of potential ways that the BID could help save the environment AND save BID businesses money. For instance, we could initiate town centre cardboard recycling, or a drop off point for printer cartridge recycling. Come along to the meeting and let us know your ideas, at the same time as hearing from Wharfedale Tackles Plastics, and from Single Use Alternatives who are busy providing plastic free coffee cups and food containers to cafes and takeaways.

Meercat Associates

Cost Cutting Initiatives for Ilkley Businesses

Escalating costs were cited as a major concern for many businesses when we chatted with them during the development of the BID. We are therefore delighted to have engaged Meercat Associates who are specialists at working with BIDs around the country, saving businesses on many overheads including utility bills, merchant services, insurance and many other essential but costly business expenses.

Business Photography for Levy Payers

Ilkley BID are funding member busineses to get professional business photography entirely free of charge. The photographs can be photos of you and your team, or of your business in general, whichever you choose. You'll be entitled to two fully edited shots, with the option to purchase further shots at a specially discounted £15 each.

You'll be able to use all of the shots taken on your website, social media, marketing collateral or however you like. There is currently a small back-log in getting the photography booked in, but we expect this to be rectified in the New Year.

Ilkley BID is funding this for 10 businesses per month on a first come, first served basis, so please contact us at to put your business on the list for this great opportunity.
