🕰️ FAMILIAR FACES / SHIFTING TIMES 🕰️
These portraits are deeply personal. Have you ever stood there, staring at an image, and it just looks back at you? Suddenly, wherever you are, you feel small but in a comforting way, like standing at the foot of a Redwood tree. These aren’t just images of my dad; they are quiet moments—his gestures, his expressions—that invite me to reflect on time passing and face my own truth. It’s a journey into my relationship with mortality and the legacy we leave behind.
Looking at these images, I see echoes of myself—what was passed down, and what I will one day pass on. His face, lined with years, reflects the path ahead—his life, his lessons, and the grace of accepting mistakes. These images go beyond simply capturing my father—they’re about revisiting the past and embracing vulnerability, showing what’s raw, real, and human.

Honestly – I've teared up multiple times looking at the first image. Collectively, they’ve become a journey of understanding what I lacked, what I’ve come to see, and what I can offer in return.
Originally, I just wanted to take his portrait—document the present. But now, I see them as an exploration of legacy and connection. Through each shot, I’ve intentionally stripped away the noise, focusing solely on the person in front of me—capturing the complex emotions of aging, loss, and the weight of memory.
In the end, these innocent photos became an exploration of love, mortality, and everything in between.

📚 PROSE TO THE PEOPLE: PENGUIN HOUSE RANDOM (BOOK) 📚
Working on Prose to the People was like stepping into a living history book—an immersive journey into the heartbeat of Black bookstores across the US. Each store is more than just a place to buy books; it’s a sanctuary for knowledge, culture, and activism. As I traversed cities and small towns, I found myself surrounded by stories that felt as vast and layered as the books on the shelves.
What struck me most was the energy of these spaces—the buzz of community, the voices of people who have made these bookstores their home. Some were bustling with life and conversation, while others felt like sacred quiet spaces where history is passed down through whispered words and shared stories. Each person I met—the owners, the patrons, the activists—contributed a piece to the puzzle of these bookstores' rich, complex histories.

In this editorial for Joyshed, the energy of athletic leisure takes on a quiet dynamism, where subtle gestures and the fall of fabric suggest movement without rushing it. It’s a celebration of the space between stillness and flow—where comfort, style, and identity weave together naturally.
The lighting for this shoot draws inspiration from the painterly techniques of classical art, where light and shadow are used to sculpt form and create mood. Soft, diffused light envelops the subjects, mimicking the subtle contrasts seen in paintings, allowing the fabric and the body to come to life through delicate highlights and deep shadows. Each shot was intentionally composed to emphasize the textures and weight of the clothing while maintaining a sense of depth and elegance. The minimalist background serves as a quiet partner, focusing attention on the movement within stillness, like a figure emerging from the canvas.
This work isn’t just about the clothing—it’s a meditation on freedom, self-expression, and presence. Every frame captures the delicate tension of movement in stillness, where the body and the fabric speak in unison, offering a glimpse into a world where style and comfort aren’t just worn—they’re lived.

🌐 A SUBTLE SHIFT: SITE UPDATE 🌐
A lot has shifted for me in the past year—personally and professionally. In the same way my work has evolved, so has the way I share it. I’ve updated my website to better reflect where I’m at creatively—stripping things back and letting the work speak for itself.
The changes are subtle, but they align more deeply with my creative philosophy. The layout now breathes a little more, allowing each image and story to stand on its own, free from distractions. It feels like a natural extension of my evolving vision: capturing moments that speak to human connection and the quiet beauty of everyday life. Simpler, more intentional, and better aligned with where I’m headed next.
Take a look when you can—let me know what stands out.

👨🏾🍼 I LOVE YOU ALWAYS, ALL WAYS PREVIEW 👨🏾🍼
I’ve been working on this for two years, though it feels like it’s been in the making since my son was born—spanning generations and moments of connection. This photo book is a journey through fatherhood, legacy, and the bonds that define us. It reflects the love I have for my son, the lessons passed down from generations and learning the hard way, and the complexities of carrying those lessons forward.
This isn’t just a collection of portraits; it’s a reflection on how fatherhood evolves within my family. Each image, each letter, captures a moment where vulnerability and strength intersect. It’s a journey through joy, pain, growth, and wisdom—capturing the essence of being both a father and a son.
I Love You Always, All Ways invites you into the space between fatherhood and legacy, where the past and future blur, and every moment becomes an opportunity to create something meaningful and enduring. I’m excited to share more soon as we get closer to bringing this project to life.

After reflecting on all of this, what stands out the most? Life's too short to overthink everything—sometimes you just have to let the moment speak for itself. Stay present, folks.
