Mutual Domicile Transfers - LUS

As communicated in last week's APFA LUS hotline, there are no domicile vacancies available for the December 2016 bid month.

APFA and the Company have reached an agreement to allow Mutual Domicile Transfers for LUS Flight Attendants effective with the December 2016 bid month.

Letter of Agreement (LOA) - October 6, 2016

The Company will maintain a list of Flight Attendants requesting Mutual Domicile Transfers. The requests will be processed in system seniority order each month.

For Example: Ten (10) PHX Flight Attendants request a transfer to PHL. Five (5) PHL Flight Attendants request a transfer to PHX. Even though there are no domicile vacancies available, the Company will approve the 5 PHL Flight Attendants and match them to the 5 of the most senior PHX Flight Attendants and mutually swap their bases, due to the new LOA. The 5 PHX Flight Attendants who were not awarded a transfer to PHL will be considered in a later month, in seniority order of the total requests.

The following are all the possible combinations of base swaps within the LUS bases:

  • It is NOT necessary to bid all bases when submitting a transfer request.
  • All transfer requests will remain on file until either awarded or retracted.
  • If you no longer are interested in a base transfer and have a transfer request on file, that request should be retracted.
As a reminder, an LUS Flight Attendant who would like a Mutual Domicile Transfer must submit a Transfer Request Form via WINGS by 12:00 Noon (EDT)/09:00 (MST), Monday, October 17, 2016. The awards will be posted no later than Wednesday, October 19, 2016.

PBS Trainers in the Crew Room - LUS

As a reminder, PBS trainers will be available in the LUS crew rooms through Sunday, October 16th to assist with PBS bidding. Trainers will also be available in the crew rooms next month from November 10th through 16th to assist while PBS bidding is open.

PBS Pairing Shuffle - LUS

The PBS program will avoid assigning you an undesirable pairing that you did not bid for, by automatically utilizing the pairing shuffle feature. Here is how the pairing shuffle works during the award process:
  1. If the system cannot complete your award by layer 7, before going outside of your seven layers, pairings will be awarded from any of the pairings within your pairing pools. In other words, pairings from an earlier layer may not be awarded; so that pairings from a later layer may be awarded. This shuffle process is so that PBS will award the pairings in your pairing pools to prevent a PN pairing from being assigned.
  2. If the system is unable to complete your line using any combination of pairings from within your pairing pools, PN pairing(s) will be awarded.
Please Note: If the shuffle occurs, PBS will award a completed line from the earliest layer possible.
