When Hugh first drew this cartoon over a lunch at Miami’s Shoji Sushi in 2009, I was taken by its simplicity and elegance. We were having a lively discussion about gapingvoid’s purpose, and the idea was sketched in an instant.
Since that time, out of the 4,000+ (yes) cartoons that Hugh has drawn, this one in particular, has taken on a special significance for a lot of people. One such person, pictured above, is
Sean Heritage, Commanding Officer
(bio here) of the US Navy’s NIOC in Pensacola, Florida. The NIOC’s mission is to “execute Computer Network Defense and Digital Network Intelligence objectives supporting naval and national cyber supremacy”. (I think they’re Navy geeks ;-))
CDR Heritage has been collecting Hugh’s work for a couple of years, and sent us this photo with one of his favorites.
We like to say sometimes that Hugh’s work helps leaders lead, and when we look at Sean’s photo and read his
blog, we can’t help but feel inspired.
