Children's Grief Awareness Reminder

How the NAGC is getting involved and how you can get involved too:

The National Alliance for Grieving Children promotes awareness of the needs of children and teens grieving a death and provides education and resources for anyone who wants to support them. Join us in working towards raising awareness of children's grief. You can make a difference in the life of a grieving child!

Every year on the third Thursday of November, the NAGC proudly observes Children's Grief Awareness Day. Our Affiliate members, donors and supporters throughout the country acknowledge this day by wearing blue and hosting awareness events in their communities. This year, in addition to Children’s Grief Awareness Day activities, we want to encourage you to join us in raising awareness the entire month of November.

Here's what the NAGC will be focusing on through the month:

Blogging: We are going to be posting weekly blogs throughout the month and daily blogs on the third week of the month. We will post a variety of blogs including research based blogs, personal story blogs, and educational blogs.  How you can help: We are looking for some teens who would be willing to blog during the month of November. If you have a teen in mind please email megan.lopez@childrengrieve.org with more information.

Webinars: We will be pre-recording a webinar on helping grieving kids during the holiday season. This will be posted on the website to be accessed during the month of November free of charge. We will also be posting other past webinars for free as well.

NAGC Resource Page: We will be updating our webpage from now throughout the month of November with resources, ideas, updates, and best practices. How you can help: We would love to hear from your about all the exciting things you have going on this month. You can add your activities to our website HERE.

Social Media Campaign: Our goal is to make a strong social media presence during the month of November.  So please follow us on Pinterest and update your Facebook profile and cover photos. How you can help: We would like to send out statements about Grief Awareness from children and teens. To participate, please have your staff and or kids answer one of the following questions: (1) Why is the awareness of Children’s Grief important? or (2) Why is Children’s Grief Awareness important to you? Answer these questions by submitting pictures to megan.lopez@childrengrieve.org. These pictures will be posted on our facebook account throughout the month of November. Here are some examples

Staff can feel free to show their faces, while we ask for pics from kids to be kept confidential. Kids can do a group as shown above or do individual projects.

Thanks in advance for helping to raise awareness for grieving children throughout  the month of November! If you have any questions please feel free to email megan.lopez@childrengrieve.org.
