Save the Date! January 23rd is the date for Madrona’s family fun tradition - the USO dance! Our very own Madrona Jazz Bands will perform as will our special guests from EWHS Jazz Band. We’ll celebrate with swinging jazz music and pizza and pies! It’s a wonderful evening for the whole family! Food, music and dancing! More information to come, but mark your calendars for January 23rd!
1st Garden Club of the Year!
Join us on Saturday, rain or shine, to pull weeds and help straighten the gardens at Madrona! Bring your own gloves, tools and small bucket to hold your weeds. We will be out from about 10-2 beautifying the school grounds. Supervised children are welcome. *PLEASE do NOT trim any plants.* Questions? this email
Enrichment Registration Update and New Class Added
Early registration for Enrichment class attendants has started and after one day, the only class confirmed to open for general registration is Art Daze! That's right, if class attendants don't register by January 12th, the classes will be canceled.
Cheer class has just been added to the Winter Enrichment list. Ms. Azim's class will take place on Thursdays beginning January 30, 4-5pm.
Please see the revised flyer for more information about Class Attendant registration and the new Cheer class. Flyer is at 2020-Winter-Flyer2.pdf.
Attention all Madrona families with incoming kindergartner's next fall. Please make sure that you have completed and submitted a lottery form for your incoming kindergartner. Even though you already have a student attending Madrona, we still need a form completed for records. If you are unsure if you have completed a form, please check with Kim Zimmerman in the office. You may contact her by phone at (425)431-2990 or email at this email. The deadline to receive your sibling lottery form is end of day on Friday, January 31st. If your form is not in on time, your student may not receive a spot. Families will be contacted late February to advise when registration packets will be available.
Go-Fund-Me for Mr. Barnes
Julian and Gabrielle's beautiful four year old son has numerous medical challenges including: hearing loss, mobility, celiac disease and ASD. He was recently diagnosed with a rare illness called Zellweger Syndrome. There is no known cure at this time.
Girls on the Run
They would like to get a service dog to help Maverick with mobility, auditory/visual assistance and companionship.
Please thoughtfully consider donating today to help us raise the funds necessary for the Barnes family to get a service dog for Maverick! The waitlist for a service dog can take over a year and a half so hopefully we can raise the funds together soon!

Madrona Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run will begin in March! Girls on the run is a 10-week program for third through sixth grade. Practices will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 to 5:30. The program encourages girls to recognize their individual strengths and celebrate connections with others. Each season, girls gain a better understanding of who they are and what’s important to them, the value of teamwork and healthy relationships and how they can have a positive impact on the world. Girls also make a meaningful contribution to their community through a team-organized Community Impact Project. Physical activity is woven into the program to inspire an appreciation for fitness and healthy habits and teach life skills including treating others with care, practicing gratitude and managing emotions. Each season culminates with a Girls on the Run 5K event. This celebratory, non-competitive event provides girls with a sense of accomplishment and instills the value of goal setting at a young age.
Registration will begin in January. For more information, please go to this link
We also need three coaches! It is a great way to get in shape and support the program while training to run a 5K. You may find additional information about coaching on the website. Coaches need to go to a training session prior to the season.
Please contact Lib Rust at this email or Tracy Renick at this email if you are interested in coaching.
