This Sunday, August 25, we will host our second ever "Taster" Liturgy. We'll gather at 4:30pm at Foodheads (616 W 34th St.). They've offered to let us use their space, so we're going to try it out and see how it goes.

We call it a "taster" because it's our chance to give our friends and neighbors a "taste" of what our Sundays together will be like. 

We call it "liturgy" because the word means "work of the people," and everyone is a valued participant.

This Sunday will be a multi-generational liturgy -- the kids in our community will participate with us. As many of us experienced growing up, there is great value in kids seeing and participating in how the big people pray and worship together. We will have an element geared specifically for them, but adults seem to learn a lot from kid stuff too. There will also be an activity table in the room where you can sit with your children if they want to be hands on with something for part of the service.

Our goal is to host the liturgy on a weekly basis this year, and meeting at Foodheads is one step toward finding a location that might work for us. But it will take a group of people committed to following Jesus and working together. We hope you'll be there and you'll bring a friend to learn about this exciting opportunity.

It’s easy to spend our days at work and our nights with Netflix and then forget how much we need friends and community. That’s why we’re always saying “See you throughout the week”. Sometimes, it's good to put fellowship on your calendar.

 

We can’t follow Jesus alone, we need each other. We need more than just an hour or two on Sundays. Parties. Babysitting. Helping each other move. Mourning the hard times. Celebrating the wins. Life together.

 

Let’s resurrect a worn-out old church word: Fellowship
