Understanding ACEs and Building a Trauma-Informed Community

This two-hour interactive training will discuss adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and how to best support youth who have experienced trauma. It is ideal for adolescent health educators and others who work with youth.

Here is what you can expect to learn at this event:

  • The definition of epigenetic and its relation to the neurobiology of trauma
  • How the CDC-Kaiser Permanente ACEs study findings can assist you in your work
  • How to build trauma-formed and self-healing communities


Jessica Herzog-Hall, Director
ACEs Indiana Coalition
Herzog-Hall is a graduate of Bellarmine University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. During her academic career, she dedicated herself to understanding the experiences of violent crime survivors. Herzog-Hall served as a legal advocate, assisting victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking through the court process. She then served as an intern with the Louisville Special Victims Unit, assisting police officers by interviewing victims, organizing cases, and arresting offenders. Prior to joining Indiana Youth Services Association, Herzog-Hall worked at Chaucie’s Place as a prevention education coordinator. She served as the region 5 coalition coordinator at the Indiana Trafficking Victims Assistance Program (ITVAP) and recently transitioned to her role as director of ACEs Indiana Coalition.
