CANDICE'S COMMENTARY
April has been quite a busy month with no slowing down as staff continues to work on the next fiscal year’s budget. The Town will also be holding a strategic planning session on May 26th. Please check our Facebook and website for further details.

At the beginning of April, I had the opportunity to attend the Tennessee City Management Association’s (TCMA) spring conference in Murfreesboro, TN. The conference had a variety of classroom and field sessions that were focused on the management and technical issues needs of Tennessee city managers. Overall, this was a great opportunity to meet with city managers across the State to exchange ideas, share concerns, and receive feedback on local government issues.

In mid-April, I enjoyed speaking at Leadership Sevier’s Government Day. To those who may not be familiar, the Leadership Sevier training program is for individuals working in a leadership role in Sevier County and focuses on the dynamics and public issues of the community. During this event, I took the opportunity to share the history and internal operations of the Town. Many were glad to hear about and even encouraged the Town’s mission of preserving the historic landscape and mountain culture of our great community.

While my first Heritage Day may not have included sunny weather and the hustle and bustle of craft vendors, games and entertainment, I did get to enjoy the great music of Jimbo Whaley and Greenbrier and duo, Kayla Parton and Zack McKinney while eating delicious Nachos prepared by Hills Creek Baptist Church. I look forward to Heritage Day 2022.

City Administrator
