Residential & Retail Development Announced at Corner of Elmwood & Bull Streets
Astral Development of New York announced the purchase of six adjacent properties that will make up a development of at least 200 apartments, retail space and parking. Read more here.
The Shoppes on Main & Good Life Café Announce a New Location
The Shoppes on Main, which is rebranding to Icon on Taylor, and Good Life Café are moving from their current location on Main Street to the 1200 block of Taylor Street in a renovated historic building next to Hotel Trundle. Stay tuned for updates on progress.
Restaurant Opportunity for Lease at The Palms
The Palms is a new mixed-use development with high-end apartments and amenities including a rooftop lounge, pet spa, business center and more. On the ground floor is 2,800 SF of raw space suited for a restaurant. See more details on the available space here.
Catch a Ride in the Main Street District Shuttle
Need to get from one end of the Main Street District to the other? Weather looking a little suspicious? Give us a call at 803-205-5245 and we'll give you a lift anywhere you need to go in the district. Current hours of operation are 7:30 AM to 11:00 PM, Monday - Sunday.
City of Columbia Parking Services Partners with American Heart Association 
Businesses can sponsor a parking meter in the Main Street District, Five Points or The Vista as a part of a special initiative to raise money for the local chapter of the American Heart Association. Sponsors may choose their meter location and will paint and/or decorate their meter, to be displayed during the month of April. Learn more here.
The South Carolina Philharmonic Presents One Night with Don Juan | March 11
With rolling premieres taking place across the nation, Jennifer Higdon’s Cold Mountain Suite makes its South Carolina debut. This work draws on themes from Higdon’s opera, which is based on the award-winning book of the same name by Charles Frazier. Learn more here.
Annual Red Carpet Awards Party at The Nick | March 12

About The Main Street District

The Main Street District is a private, non-profit organization that manages the 36-block area bounded by Gervais, Elmwood, Assembly, and Marion Streets in downtown Columbia. The organization provides public space management, economic development, place management, marketing, and public advocacy for the Main Street District.
 
The Board of Directors oversees the organization’s mission — to focus on filling vacancies in commercial properties, retaining existing downtown businesses and recruiting new ones, expanding the downtown residential base, and creating a safe, clean, and friendly downtown environment.
