“Well, here's the point: this president and those in power -- those who benefit from keeping things the way they are -- they are counting on your cynicism. They know they can't win you over with their policies. So they're hoping to make it as hard as possible for you to vote, and to convince you that your vote doesn't matter. That's how they win. That's how they get to keep making decisions that affect your life, and the lives of the people you love...We can't let that happen. Do not let them take away your power.” โ€• PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA, DNC, 8/19/20

TONIGHT!: FINAL NIGHT of the 2020 Democratic National Convention, Thursday, August 19, Streamed online, and on PBS, NBC, CBS, & ABC
Last night Senator Kamala Harris, accepted the nomination for Vice Presidential candidate and said, "Make no mistake, the road ahead will not be not easy. We will stumble. We may fall short. But I pledge to you that we will act boldly and deal with our challenges honestly. We will speak truths. And we will act with the same faith in you that we ask you to place in us.
We believe that our country — all of us, will stand together for a better future. We already are
...So, let's fight with conviction. Let's fight with hope. Let's fight with confidence in ourselves, and a commitment to each other. To the America we know is possible. The America, we love.
Years from now, this moment will have passed. And our children and our grandchildren will look in our eyes and ask us:
Where were you when the stakes were so high?
They will ask us, what was it like?
And we will tell them. We will tell them, not just how we felt.

We will tell them what we did."

ESTELLA'S LETTER: So many reasons to FIGHT, here.

PLEASE WATCH TONIGHT. Schedule and Action Items below.

THANKS for following these LAD DNC blasts including EASY but EFFECTIVE ACTION ITEMS for each day (because you knew we would!).

for today, thursday:

1. PLAN to Attend Longmont 4 Racial Equality Rally SATURDAY, August 22nd, 12:45–3pm, 6th & Main. Remember their names: Elijah McClain, Breonna Taylor, Jeffrey Cordova and Juan Garcia...Justice for Jorge Rodriguez...Bring signs...Please wear masks and practice safe, social distancing. If you cannot attend, please consider driving by and honking in support!

(If the next two action items look familiar, it's because they are worth repeating, thanks for considering!)
2. GET READY to GOTV by OPTING IN: Since 2008, Boulder County Democratic Party Precinct Leaders and Volunteers have dropped the BCDP Voter Guide (not to be confused with the SOS blue book) at doorsteps all over Boulder County, close to 90,000 doors EVERY election, including midterms! This culminated in record turnout for Boulder County, the second highest turnout of the over 3,000 counties in the nation in 2018! But this year, the BCDP wants all of its volunteers and voters in Boulder County to be SAFE, so the BCDP Voter Guide will be ONLINE this election, up and running the same week you receive your ballots (Boulder County Elections starts mailing ballots October 9). SO THE TASK AT HAND is for voters to OPT IN to access the voter guide. And from that list, the BCDP can determine how many printed guides to mail — to those vulnerable voters who perhaps do not have, or have a slow, internet connection. The BCDP will also need help calling voters, directing them to the online Voter Guide, answering questions for ballot drop boxes, and other vital voting info.
OPT-IN to the BCDP Voter Guide, by emailing us at longmontareadems@gmail.com Please include your name, email address, and cell phone number (LAD or the BCDP will NOT use your number for anything other than GOTV, but this will be the most helpful LOCAL info you'll receive this election season!)

2. FIND YOUR PRECINCT LEADER. Tell them you'd like to opt-in for the Voter Guide, and offer to help GOTV! Look up your Precinct Leader here. (it will also list all of your district info!)
