Just about to set off on tour!

We are in our final rehearsals & making last-minute preparations on the eve of setting off on our autumn tour. We have an exciting show ahead, with some new material, and many old favourites. Lale Sayoko will be with us again, adding her spectacular dance to complement the thundering rhythms.

We're all really excited about getting back out on the road again! We hope to see you at a concert this autumn & we'll be in touch again once we're on the road.

Taiko Course & Performance Project in Glasgow & Edinburgh - starting next week!

We have a very exciting project coming up in Glasgow & Edinburgh, consisting of a 10-week course leading to a final performance, a guest spot in our "Taiko Drumfest" concert. The Edinburgh course filled up instantly with those who had been on taster workshops & previous courses, but there are still places available for the Glasgow course - let us know ASAP if you'd like to join!

The course is suitable for anyone wanting to participate, and will take you step by step learning the basics through to learning a performance piece. The only requirements are that you've got lots of energy & you're keen to perform onstage!

Saturdays 11am - 1pm - Glasgow Course
At: Sounds of Progress on Trongate.
Cost: £120
Dates: September 11, 18, 25, October 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, November 6.
The 10th session will be held at the Mugen Taiko Dojo on Thursday 11 November, which will be a final dress rehearsal for the performance.

The performance itself will take place at the Howden Park Centre in Livingston on Friday 12 November, and will feature all of the players training at the Dojo, with 30 drummers performing onstage!

Mugenkyo on "The Slammer"

Mugenkyo blew the roof off at Elstree Studios, filming Children's BBC programme "The Slammer" earlier this summer. The programme will be broadcast on Friday 17 September at 4:30pm on CBBC.

Art Lee at the Mugen Taiko Dojo

We were delighted to welcome Art Lee to the Mugen Taiko Dojo, who ran a special day-long workshop for our Dojo trainees. The "hip-up" exercises really challenged everyone's fitness level, and the "stairmaster" exercises were excellent for developing coordination. It was a tremendously useful learning experience for the whole Dojo team, and we're delighted to hear that Art Lee & his Tokara ensemble will be returning to the Edinburgh Fringe again next year. We recommend their performance to one & all!

Dojo Team Summer Performances

The Dojo team have had a busy summer of performances at a variety of festivals, from the multicultural festival extravaganza of the Glasgow Mela to the village fete of the Strathaven Balloon Festival. This is their most recent performance on a Glasgow street corner, where they wow-ed the shoppers all last weekend.
