Hospitalito Atitlán Hits a Milestone:
25,000 Patients Served!
We are so proud that the Hospitalito has made a difference in the lives of so many people.
Our receptionists Violeta and Bety keep everything in order.
New Laparoscopic Tower Donated by Dr. Bjork
& Friends Reduces Invasive Surgeries at HA
General Surgeons Dr. Kevin Bjork and Dawn Stapleton, Urologist Brad Qualey and OB/GYN John McGuiness operated on 83 patients in one week. In addition, Dr. Qualey used GreenLight Laser for 19 prostate operations, relieving these men of a life of permanent catheterization.
The latest Spanish and Cultural Immersion CME class was a great success. On the last day,
students learned the vocabulary for medical equipment and supplies, as well as terms for newborn care.
The attendees included pediatricians, an OB/GYN, nurse midwife and an ER doc, which is why head nurse Chonita Damián Ixbalan chose the topic of birthing for the class.
Hospitalito Atitlán is now offering Continuing Medical Education credits for physicians and nurses who want to learn Medical Spanish. Each course is conducted over one week in beautiful Santiago Atitlán, and physicians and nurses can earn up to 25 CME credits. Courses are scheduled eight times through 2014.
