Dear *|HTML:MMERGE4|*,

OUR FIRST SUMMER CAMP 2022

The work that God is doing in Malawi is utterly amazing! Our ministry aims to give hope and holistic change to street children who are homeless and orphans. I have a lot of stories to share with you about how your support has already made a significant difference in the lives of these children.

ZAPITA VILLAGE

This week, we began our summer camp program aimed at providing a safe and conducive learning environment for not only street children but also children in the village community. Based on our limited resources, our target enrollment was 150 children. To our surprise, 550 children showed up and participated in the summer camp on the first day! Unfortunately, in order to maintain a quality program, we had to send the younger ones back home, so we ended up with 250 children–still an incredible start for our camp! That just continues to show how great the need is and how effective our programs are for Malawian children. I hope that next time we will have more resources to include more children in the program.

We introduced four daily activities: art, sports, bible study, and counseling/character development. Moreover, we provide delicious meals for the 250 children four days a week to keep them healthy and focused. Over the past week, the community has assisted us in preparing food for the children.

TRIP TO LAKE MALAWI

Another surprise is that neither the children nor even some of the older people in the village have ever been to Lake Malawi, an extraordinary freshwater lake which dominates our landlocked country. Therefore, we decided that it would be a worthwhile opportunity to take 100+ children to the lake on the 30th of this month. This will enable many of them to see a lake for the first time in their lives, learn about wildlife and appreciate the beauty of God's creation.

THE GIRLS ORPHANAGE

The other good news is that the girls’ house (orphanage) is almost ready to receive the girls. I have been very busy trying to get everything ready for the girls to move in. I am hopeful that very soon we will see smiling faces in the house. The beds were delivered on Friday and the caretaker has already settled into the house and is awaiting the finalization of the process and the arrival of the 12 girl.

GRADUATION AND FUNDRAISING

I will be graduating on December 17th with a grade point average of 3.77. I am excited to receive my master's degree. I have been advised to come back to the U.S. in mid-October and stay until the end of December due to visa issues. I would like to meet you during this time and share with you more about the work that God is doing here. Also, I would be grateful if you would consider having an informal get together with friends, church members, or family so they can hear for themselves about how we are changing the lives of street children in Malawi. Please let me know by email about your plans.

Thank you all for your support and love. It is amazing how everything we have been praying for has come true due to your support.
