May you be blessed this Christmas with:

At Christmas we celebrate Emmanuel, God is with us.

Homilist - Terry Fitzpatrick

God is always with us and has never left us but we often forget or fail to know.

Embracing this presence is what we truly seek, what truly satisfies.

We are invited to awaken to this realization. This awakening often begins in small tiny ways.

Like the tiny infant Jesus, Emmanuel, who we celebrate at Christmas.

This tiny infant grows to remind us that Emmanuel is very near to each one of us, in fact close at hand.

Sensing and living in this presence can become individually and collectively the LIGHT which can illuminate our world.

Thank You
Thank You to all those generous people who donated money to pay for an operation for Ahmed's son.

Layers of Life
During the month of December,  Margaret Clifford will be donating the proceeds from the sale of her poetry collection, Layers of Life, to the Micah Projects Christmas Appeal and to SMX.

So buy some books for Christmas gifts while donating to Micah and SMX at the same time. ($15.00 each)  A great gift for Christmas!

Something Special
The bulletin published by ARRCC (Australian Response to Climate Change) this really so worth reading that I suggest you follow this link and see for yourself. You will be pleased you followed the link.

Hey Facebook Fiends!
Or at least those of you who have an account. We love our Community. There are a couple of small ways that you can help us to increase our presence, despite our lack of a shopfront.
- like the St Mary's In Exile page (@StMarysInExile)
- ask your family and friends to like the Page
- share the posts

Current figures are –
St Marys In Exile 3,570 likes, 3,514 follows
With your help, we got the Micah Projects FB Page 6474 likes and 6705 follows. So we KNOW we can get more traction with a little help from our friends.

And you can do this from the comfort of your own workstation, car or couch!

Faith Council
The first two homilies in 2020 will focus on the topic  and community members will have the opportunity to share their ideas and understanding of prayer.

January break
We had more suggestions for events that people were prepared to host over the January break.  You can see the suggestions from the whiteboard here Download the spread sheet, keep a hard copy to consult and reply to the number given to show your interest. Thanks to those who have volunteered.  It is not too late if you missed the whiteboard meeting to volunteer an event for January.  Email your idea to Susan or Marg

Eucharist on the beach

E Bulletin

There will be no bulletins during the January break unless there is something urgent to be broadcast. Next bulletin will be sent Jan 30

Containers for Change
Bring your empty drink bottles to the TLC to support the community and help re-cycling.  Make sure the lids are off and they have the 10c on the label. Or drop off yourself and quote SMX scheme number C10207591. Note that many small cardboard and plastic containers are acceptable eg Poppas.  Check for 10c sign.
Where can I return bottles?

In our thoughts...
We offer our condolences and much love to Cath and the family after the death of her husband; our friend Uncle Sam Watson.

We wish Lew Rice a continuing recovery after a hospital stay and offer both he and Shirley our warmest wishes.

We hear that Wash's health is improving. We also keep Lynne Lennox, Rebecca Foun, Shiloh Moore and Val Fjelstrom in our thoughts and prayers as they deal with health challenges.

If you are not well, or are facing problems, but we haven't heard about it, please be assured that we do care and would like to support you in prayer and practical ways. Please pass on any news of celebrations, concerns, or interesting news about members of SMX to St Mary's Community.  Information is only published with the permission of the people involved.

Thank you from Micah Projects to our friends, colleagues and supporters. We wish you peace, joy, and connection this holiday season.

A Blessing for Christmas Week

Circle us, O God,
Circle us with the light of your presence,
your presence in the Christ-child, bright within this dark world.
Enable us to be overcomers of fear and temptation.
Enable us to be victors over sin and despair.
Enable us to become that which you would desire -
The light which can illuminate our world.
