Feature Story:

Milwaukee Author, Ebony Lewis: Dear Black Boy: It's Ok to Cry

"Ebony Lewis hopes that Dear Black Boy: It’s Ok to Cry will serve as a part of the necessary conversations around the world about mental health, especially when it comes to the African American community. She wrote this book not just for boys but for parents, community leaders, youth, everyone from all backgrounds to find the strength and courage to live free and feel comfortable embracing emotions and seeking help when needed."

The Water Across the Curriculum (WAC) program is designed to both offer educators a menu of enrichment options, and to train university students studying education to integrate the visual arts into their classroom curricula. To get the most from this program we encourage you to combine the WAC Educator Resource Guide, 2–3 classroom visits that feature inquiry-based discussions and hands-on activities, a tour for your students at the Haggerty Museum of Art, and take-home activities for your students to share their learning with their families.
