The 2018 AHIMA Election is underway. Currently 3.11% of the WHIMA membership has cast their vote. Vote on or before the July 23rd 5:00 p.m. CDT deadline, and contact your colleagues to cast their vote. Let’s increase the voter turnout this year and make history. The theme is “Inspiring Leadership/Influencing Change.” Let your voices be heard and help AHIMA and WHIMA shine on!

Draft 2018 Curricula Competencies

The Draft 2018 HIM Curricula Competencies are available for comment. AHIMA encourages all members to review the draft and submit your comments. Please encourage your advisory and community members to provide their feedback. The public comment period closes September 14. Visit ahima.org/education/academic-affairs/academic-curricula.

Learn how you can actively participate and make sure that your voice is heard. Register in advance for August 21 at 3 p.m. CT or August 29 at 2 p.m. CT

RHITs with a Bachelor's Degree are Eligible for the RHIA Exam

The Commission on Certification for Health Informatics and Information Management (CCHIIM) has amended the eligibility criteria to sit for the RHIA certification exam. Registered Health Information Technicians (RHIT) who meet the following eligibility requirements can for the RHIA examination during the timeframe of July 1, 2017 through 2021:
  • Have at least a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution or nationally recognized accreditor; and
  • Have received their RHIT credential on or before August 31, 2018; and
  • Have complied with the Standards for Maintenance of the RHIT credential
These time-limited criteria are a provision of HIM Reimagined.
