Join your colleagues as they teach your assembly how to Stop The Bleed and advocate for funding for statewide training and trauma kits in schools. NC Resident Wins Regional IV Annual Trauma Paper Competition

 
NC ResidentCongratulations to Jared Gallaher, MD on winning the Region IV Trauma Paper Competition which was held on November 18, 2107 in Biloxi, Mississippi.  Dr. Gallahar will present,
The Malawi Trauma Score: A Model for Predicting Trauma-Associated Mortality in a Resource-Poor Setting again on March 8, 2018 at the National Committee on Trauma Paper Competition in San Antonio Texas. 
 
Dr. Gallaher is a chief resident in general surgery at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. During residency, he completed a 2-year research fellowship with the Malawi Surgical Initiative, spending 1 year living in Lilongwe, Malawi under the mentorship of Dr. Anthony Charles and earned a Master of Public Health at UNC. His research focuses on trauma, burn, and emergency general surgery care in developing countries, especially in sub-Saharan Africa. After graduation this year, Dr. Gallaher will attend Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU) in Portland, Oregon for fellowship training in trauma and critical care. He lives in Durham, NC with his wife Laura, and his two sons, Lincoln and Ezra.

The 2018 NC/SC Chapters ACS Joint Annual Meeting is set for July 13-15, 2018 at Marriott Grand Dunes in Myrtle Beach, SC. The event will be packed full of opportunities for Continuing Medical Education, networking, and advancing the future of medicine in a relaxing, enjoyable setting.
