Blueprint for Excellence: How AHIMA Builds Its ‘Gold Standard’ Credentials

The process of creating a new credential can take three to five years, with the goal of launching a valid, reliable, and legally defensible measurement of professional competence. AHIMA’s certification process is considered the “gold standard” based on several factors—one of which is the fact that AHIMA credentials are created using a scientific process that is scrutinized by the Commission on Certification for Health Informatics and Information Management before they are released to the public. This slideshow offers a step by step look at the process.
