Welcome to PHIMA’s 81st year. I am so honored to be your new President and look forward to an exciting year of education, networking and fun.
I enjoyed meeting many of you at the 80th Annual Conference at the Seven Springs Mountain Resort in May. The new Board was installed, and we are busy making plans for the Fall Leadership, education sessions and planning for the May 2019 Annual Conference at the Penn Stater. We will be reviewing the strategic plan and updating it in accordance with the AHIMA strategic plan.
The AHIMA initiatives include HIM Reimagined, the Apprenticeship Program and the RHIT to RHIA Proviso Therefore; I have decided that my theme for this year will be Dream It. Wish It. Do It. We need to prepare the future of the HIM profession and mentor new and existing members. Don’t be afraid to acquire new skills, plan for your future and network to find new opportunities. Reach for the stars and achieve what you want in your career. A favorite quote of mine is from the late Princess Diana- "Everyone needs to be valued. Everyone has the potential to give something back". Spread your wings and fly.
Please mark your calendars for the Fall Conference on November 2, 2018 in Mechanicsburg, PA. The PHIMA Annual Conference will be May 20-21, 2019 at the Penn Stater.
PHIMA is proud to support two PHIMA candidates for the AHIMA Ballot –Dasantila (Tila) Sherifi and Michelle Wieczorek. Please take the time to vote, it can make a difference and only takes a few minutes.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your President and hope to see you at future meetings.
Margie Stackhouse, RHIA
