PHIMA Scholarship Recipient – Zoe Delozier
Zoe Delozier was presented with a $1000 PHIMA Scholarship at the Business Meeting on May 21st at Seven Springs Resort. Zoe was joined by her parents to receive the award. Zoe is currently a full-time student enrolled in the Health Information Administration program at the University of Pittsburgh. She will graduate in spring, 2019 and hopes to pursue a data analytics role in the HIM profession.
During college, Zoe has been employed by the Pittsburgh Panthers ticket office where she is described as a selfless team player, dependable, possessing a high level of professionalism and initiative. Zoe has also done volunteer work at UPMC Shadyside assisting rehab patients and is currently completing a clinical assignment with Pittsburgh Mercy, an outpatient behavioral health clinic.
Zoe has participated in a number of leadership programs including the Panther Connect Leadership Retreat, Emerging Leaders Certificate Program, Panther Leadership Summit and Leadership in Action Program. In addition, Zoe has studied abroad and is fluent in French.
Zoe chose a career in HIM because her mother’s friend, who she admires, is an HIM consultant and inspired her to go into the field.
Zoe sees the ongoing development of the electronic health record as a challenge for the HIM industry, particularly from a privacy, security and interoperability standpoint. She also sees telehealth growing in the future and bringing with it challenges with coding and reimbursement, while enhancing quality and accessibility of care.
We are confident Zoe will make a difference based on her leadership skills and determination.
PHIMA scholarship awards are funded by member donations through the raffle at the annual conference. We thank the membership, regional associations and vendors for their donations which raised over $1800 for the 2018-19 scholarship fund.
