"It came upon the midnight clear,
That glorious song of old,
From angels bending near the earth,
To touch their harps of gold:
'Peace on the earth, good will to men,
From heav'n's all-'gracious King.
The world in solemn stillness lay,
To hear the angels sing!”

"Suddenly a great company of the heavnenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests"

One of my favorite scenes in the Nativity story is when the angels come to share in the Good News that the Messiah is here. I love the notion presented in 1 Peter 1:12 that angels long to look into the Gospel. Their longing and anticipation are different from ours. They are not waiting for God to come and redeem them; but they are anticipating the day when their Creator will bring peace to this earth. They long to look into the Gospel, because they get to witness Love in action.

The Incarnation is the greatest story ever told. What an amazing sight it would have been to see an entire host of angels join in and give God glory and praise for it. They bend low and lean in to watch the story of Love unfold. A Love that brings peace and wholeness when it is received; a Love that is willing to give everything; a Love that is changing and transforming everything it touches.

When Love entered your life, angels rejoiced. They bent near the earth on that day and praised God for being able to see His story of Love continue. His story continues each day. Where is God bringing peace today in your life? Who is meant to receive His peace and love today? Pray for a divine moment to show up in your life where you can share His peace and love, and let’s hear angels rejoicing!
