The OAS, through the Rowe Fund offers students from Latin American and Caribbean OAS member states (F/J visa holders) interest-free loans of up to US $15,000, to help them finance their studies or research at accredited universities in the United States.
Dialogue "Closing the Gap: Gender Parity in the New Technological Scenarios in the Americas"
This dialogue is intended for the different actors of the public, governmental, private, academic and civil society sectors that participate in the work of OAS CITEL. The event seeks to contribute to a greater understanding of gender parity to achieve equality, and the rights of women in the exercise of positions of leadership and power, in decision-making and in their participation and active representation in different environments (social, economic, political, cultural, among others) in order to close the digital gender gap. The event is organized by CITEL and CONATEL Paraguay.
Accession to the Rural Women Alliance: Empowering Rural Women through ICT
Open to OAS member states, CITEL members and agencies of the telecommunications / ICT sector, this initiative seeks the adoption of concrete actions to improve connectivity in rural areas, achieve the development of digital capabilities and services that help women involved in ICT and, thereby, reduce the digital divide in the Americas. The next accession ceremony will take place within the framework of the 35 Meeting of PCC.I (Telecommunications / ICT)
Preparation of CITEL for the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA-20)
During this meeting, OAS member states, the OAS Inter-American Telecommunications Commission (CITEL) members, and experts in the field will prepare the Inter-American proposals to establish the common position of the Americas for presentation and negotiation in the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA-20) from November 17 to 27, of 2020, in Hyderabad, India. In addition, the activities of the permanent advisory committee on telecommunications/ICT will continue in all matters related to policy and regulation issues, deployment of service technologies and the coordination of regional initiatives related to this matter. The meeting is organized by CITEL and the National Telecommunications Commission (CONATEL) of Paraguay.
First Forum of Representatives of the Judicial Branch on Cooperation against Corruption
This high-level forum seeks to promote dialogue and horizontal cooperation among the judicial branches of the Ibero-American countries, in order to strengthen their fight against corruption. The event will include presentations by internationally renowned experts on the topic, as well as the active participation of representatives of the judicial branch, who will have the opportunity to share their best practices and developments on the subject. This event is organized by the Secretariat of Legal Affairs (SLA), through the DLC, with the financial support of the Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo.

The course is intended for public officials interested in learning new perspectives on public procurement and seeks to achieve a better balance between spending and quality. The course will provide new tools to analyze whether the purchase of a good or service really aims to meet our needs and key skills to solve practical problems with greater decision-making capacity and leadership. 12th Americas Competitiveness Exchange on Innovation and Entrepreneurship (ACE)
A delegation of forty selected decision-makers from the public, private, and academic sectors will tour more than twenty innovation hubs and advanced technology centers that are leading Chile’s digital transformation. The five-day program will showcase best practices and accelerate collaboration opportunities on information and communication technologies (ICT), biotech, fintech, and sustainable energy. Organized by the University for Development of Chile (UDD), the Chilean Economic Development Agency (CORFO) of the Ministry of Economy of Chile, and the Organization of American States.
Meeting of the CICAD Group of Experts on Comprehensive and Sustainable Alternative Development (GEDAIS)
CICAD’s Group of Experts on Comprehensive and Sustainable Alternative Development (known by its Spanish language acronym, GEDAIS) of the Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (CICAD), will meet to analyze the results of the questionnaire prepared by its chair, discuss innovative practices of socio-economic inclusion to provide comprehensive and sustainable alternatives to illicit drug production and trafficking, and review the Comprehensive and Sustainable Alternative Development (DAIS) reference document.
Third Hemispheric Conference on Tourism, Inland Ports and Waterways, Ship Services and Navigation Safety
With the purpose of providing an international platform to promote public-private dialogue on efficient logistics through rivers, waterways and inland ports, the Uruguay National Port Administration (ANP) and the Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee on Ports (S/CIP) of the OAS co-organize the event to share successful practices on river transport, emphasizing the economic benefits of an integrated and sustainable port system.
The Mission to Support against Corruption and Impunity in Honduras (MACCIH) and the School of Governance launch the OAS Fellowship: Open Government in Honduras. The Fellowship seeks to strengthen open government practices in public administrations in Honduras, especially transparency, multisector collaboration, accountability and citizen participation. It consists of four phases: a virtual course on open government strategies, two on site seminars and a project development phase with mentor support.
The first onsite seminar will take place in Honduras.

First Caribbean Youth Forum on Drug Use Prevention Meeting of the CICAD
The goal of the Youth Forum on Drug Use Prevention is to promote youth leadership in drug demand reduction by developing youth-led drug use prevention initiatives. Youth representatives from thirteen OAS English-speaking Caribbean member states will gather to receive and share knowledge on drug use prevention as well as to improve their skills for developing and implementing evidence-based drug use prevention initiatives in their respective communities. The event is organized by the OAS Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (CICAD).
First International Seminar on Technology Foresight for the Americas
The purpose of this seminar is to launch a regional program on technology foresight, to improve the social appropriation of knowledge of ten major transformative technologies: big data, the Internet of things (5G), virtual reality, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, synthetic biology, gene editing, biomedical engineering, 3D and 4D additive manufacturing and new nanostructured materials, and evaluate their possible economic, social and environmental impact on the countries of the Americas. It is aimed to entrepreneurs, researchers, private sector leaders and high level authorities from the OAS member states interested in identifying and mapping future trends and technological developments in sectors of critical importance to the Americas. It is organized by the OAS, the National Council of Science, Technology and Technological Innovation of Peru (CONCYTEC) and the Administrative Department of Science, Technology and Innovation of Colombia (Colciencias).

XV Annual Conference of the Inter-American Network on Public Government (INGP)
The Inter-American Network on Public Government (INGP) will carry out its Annual Conference, aimed at generating dialogue and exchange about the implementation and follow-up on the sustainable development goals in the public procurement systems of the region, as well as to plan its activities for the period 2019-2020 and to proceed to the election of the new INGP authorities. National directors of public procurement offices, local and international public servants from different jurisdictions and international experts will participating in the event, which will take place on October 28-30 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
