The Buzz from BZTAT! Latest news from Artist BZTAT and BZTAT Studios It has been a very busy and exciting Spring/Early Summer at BZTAT Studios! I thought that I would share some of my fun artistic adventures with you. Custom Pet Portraits I love pets, and I enjoy the people who love them. When I paint a pet portrait, the process is very special, because I paint more than just the image of the animal. I also try very hard to capture what is special about the animal and it's relationship to the people in its life.
Even when I get a commission from an online contact, I spend time getting to know the person via email or social media, and I find out as much as I can about the person and the animal. it makes it a very gratifying experience for me as I paint the portrait, and it also enhances the quality of the painting.
The painting above is of a cat named Pimp. You might think that is an odd name for a cat--He got the name from being the only guy in a house full of college women from the University of Florida. Now he is the star of Your Daily Cute, one of the most popular pet blogs on the web. I am currently in the process of painting his adopted brother Moo.
This painting is of a very special cat named Mamselle Chloe. Chloe is the "green-eyed, tuxedo chatelaine of a charming, if small, chateau" according to her Facebook page. She has had some rough adventures in her life but now lives in a very warm and loving home.
This painting is of a very special dog named Pepi. Sadly, Pepi went to the Rainbow Bridge in September of 2009 after a very long and productive life of 18 years. Pepi was loved by many, as he was a celebrity at adoption events and other pet rescue activities in the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia area. His "person" Michelle misses him very much, and is looking forward to receiving his portrait to keep his memory alive.
Would you like to have a portrait made of your special pet? Information about commissioning a portrait can be found here. "Downtown Cats" Mural
Mock-up design of "Downtown Cats" mural
The "Downtown Cats" mural is the largest project that I have ever undertaken, and it certainly has been a big job! It also has been a lot of fun. The mural, which is being created in my studio, will be installed on the side of the HEAP building in downtown Canton, OH sometime next month. You can read more about the project here.
