Grant Bark Park & Coliseum Park Dog Run
Around the South Loop
- Even in the cold weather, plenty of dogs are playing in the parks. We've supplied a bucket of sand for spreading over any icy patches. Please call or tweet if the bucket is empty. And, please don't leave waste bags in the bucket!
- We're trying to keep the dog waste bag dispensers full, but we're not babysitting them and expect park users to let us know if they're getting low!
- Thanks to Enrique's Community Update for posting about the South Loop Dog PAC membership drive this week.
- Follow the Sloopin blog for observations and events around the South Loop.
SLDogPAC Membership drive Our 2010 membership drive, with a goal of '210 in 2010', is well underway. Thanks to all of you who have joined us recently, and please, follow us at southloopdogpac.org, Facebook, and Twitter.
Businesspeople - your membership ($125/yr) provides you additional benefits, including rotation of your logo image on our website sidebar and a listing on our supporters page.
But heres's a puzzling thing - while we send Fetch! to ~400 email addresses, only ~50 of you are members. Why not more? If you just 'forgot', please sign up here! But, if there's a reason why you don't want to join, we'd like to know - please email us, or join the discussion on our blog.
Membership window decals coming soon
The new South Loop Dog PAC window decals have arrived, and we'll be getting them out to all current members in the next couple of weeks. Check and update your membership address information here.
IKC Show at McCormick Place
The International Kennel Club of Chicago is holding its 2010 show at McCormick Place next weekend, February 26-28th. It's a great dog event, and you can get $2 off admission here. Also at the show, the Blitzen Agility Club is holding dog agility events over the weekend. Come on out to watch some fast and smart dogs run the courses.
What are we going to do about winter poo?
It seems that some in our community aren't picking up after their dogs. Sure, 'it's biodegradable' ;-), but that's not going to cut it in an urban environment, and in the winter, particularly, 'orphan dog poo' becomes a real nuisance and a flash point for resistance to coexistence with dogs in the South Loop. What are we going to do about it? Contribute your ideas at South Poop.
