Video on Working Platform Calculations
Watch this informative video on “Working Platform Calculations – Lessons from Using FPS and BRE Methods” presented by the DFI 2021-2022 Traveling Lecturer Thomas D. Richards, Jr., P.E., D.GE. Presented at the CalGeo Annual Conference 2022, the lecture summarizes what working platforms are, why the industry needs to improve the practice around working platforms, summarizes two methods of designing working platforms and discusses some lessons learned for these methods. Specifically, the methods discussed are the UK Federation of Piling Specialists (FPS) published calculator and the UK Building Research Establishment (BRE) method.
Acknowledgement Bias Survey
DFI’s Women in Deep Foundations (WiDF) Committee would like to identify bias within the deep foundation industry for providing credit, citations and acknowledgement of work. To help achieve that goal, they have created a survey to evaluate the prevalence, patterns and impacts of unattributed or misattributed credit within the industry. The data derived from the survey will be kept confidential and anonymous and will be presented as summary statistics in an article series for DFI’s Deep Foundations magazine. At the end of this survey, respondents have the option to share an example which may be published in an article. Please note that any names or identifying information included within the example will be removed before publication.

Responses are being accepted through Feb. 10. Scan or click the QR code to access the survey.
