President’s Message

AlishaThe last month has been a busy one! THIMA had a successful annual meeting in Knoxville, TN with 185 attendees, and more than 80 participants for Natalie’s Run. At the meeting end, newly elected officials were announced, therefore I would like to say congratulations to Shannon Swafford, incoming President Elect, I can assure you that you will gain a lot of knowledge and stay busy while serving THIMA. THIMA delegates went to Washington, DC for Hill Day at the end of March. While there wasn’t an “ask” of our congressmen, delegates met with senators and representatives to continue building relationships. We strive to promote THIMA as a resource for our legislatures so that we can be a part of the healthcare change that occurs daily.
I would like to wish you and yours a Happy Easter, and share a few tips from the Easter Bunny below:
  1. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket
  2. There’s no such thing as too much chocolate
  3. The grass is always greener in someone else’s basket
  4. Let happy thoughts multiply like rabbits

News from The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology

FACT SHEET: Quality Payment Program and Health Information Technology

On October 14, 2016, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced a final rule to implement key provisions of the bipartisan Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA) in a new program called the Quality Payment Program. The Program advances Medicare’s value-based transformation for hundreds of thousands of physicians and other eligible clinicians by tying these payments to quality patient care. A number of the provisions in MACRA directly relate to the use of certified electronic health record (EHR) technology and health information technology (health IT), including the Advancing Care Information performance category under the Quality Payment Program.
